Indian team’s fast bowler, Mohammad Shami, made a spontaneous visit to St. Mary’s Convent on Saturday. He took photos and gave autographs to students. He spent nearly two hours at the school, interacting with staff members.
Shami came to pick up his niece, Yumna Fatima, who is a student in the eighth grade, and his step-sister Amira, who is in the sixth grade. To surprise Yumna, Shami decided to personally pick her up from school. Initially, he went unrecognized, but once identified by his personal bounce, the students, teachers, and staff members were delighted.
Shami toured the school, had green tea and snacks with Principal Sister Manjusha and others. He promised to visit again before returning to Nainital. Sister Elsa, Sister Sheeba, Sister Caneula, Sister Anima, and Ravi were present on this occasion. Mohammad Shami, who became the highest wicket-taker for India in World Cup history with 50 wickets, expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance in the World Cup 2023.
He emphasized the importance of both victory and defeat and expressed pride in being a part of the Indian cricket team. Shami, born in Sahaspur village, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, has aspired to become a fast bowler since childhood and will continue to work hard and strive for improvement in the future.
