Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the rescued workers from the Silkara Tunnel in Uttarkashi, 17 days after they were safely brought out. In a phone conversation late on Tuesday night, PM Modi congratulated the rescued workers on their safe return after being in danger for so many days. He expressed his happiness and said that he couldn’t put it into words. He thanked the blessings of God for their safety.
According to a video released by the Prime Minister’s office, PM Modi informed the rescued individuals that 17 days was not a short time. He commended their courage and how they encouraged each other. PM Modi mentioned that he had been kept informed about the operation and was in constant touch with the Chief Minister.
PM Modi mentioned that his PMO officials were also present there. However, receiving information alone doesn’t reduce the concern. During this conversation, Saba Ahmad from Bihar, who was trapped in the tunnel, said that they were like brothers and spent time together. They would take walks inside the tunnel after dinner. Saba Ahmad informed the Prime Minister that more than two kilometers of the tunnel was explored in the morning walk, and they also practiced yoga. They wanted to express their gratitude to the Uttarakhand government, especially the Chief Minister and Minister VK Singh.
Afterward, Prime Minister Modi spoke to Gabbar Singh Negi, a foreman from Uttarakhand. PM Modi congratulated him specially and praised the leadership of both Gabbar Singh Negi and the Chief Minister. Gabbar Singh Negi replied to PM Modi, saying that all of them had increased their morale. CM Dhami stayed in constant contact with us. During this conversation, Gabbar Singh Negi also mentioned that the company didn’t leave any stone unturned.
Modi praised the leadership and courage of both leaders and also commended the efforts of Union Minister General (Retd.) VK Singh in the transportation and highways sector. He said that VK Singh had demonstrated his training as a soldier.
